When your anabul requires surgery, our surgical team strives to minimize the risk of stress, pain, and anesthesia requirements, while maximizing postoperative healing outcomes and patient satisfaction.
GHSVet is committed to meeting and upholding the highest standards of surgical services for the safety and well-being of your pets. We are proud to offer our well-trained medical team and provide wholehearted care. We provide a range of surgical services, from sterilization, soft tissue surgery, oncology surgery, minor and major surgery.
Before surgery, it is important to know the patient's condition in detail. Your veterinarian will perform pre-anesthetic blood tests to determine your pet's overall health status and minimize anesthetic and surgical risks. Commonly recommended testing panels are complete blood count (CBC), organ function check to ascertain the organs of the day, gonads, and various body electrolytes, and blood clotting ability check in your pet. The results of these tests will help your veterinarian assess your pet's risk before anesthesia and surgery.
When you bring your anabul to the clinic for surgery that day, your veterinarian will perform a complete pre-surgery physical examination to ensure that your pet is still in good health. We will discuss all matters relating to the surgical procedure, treatment, risks, complications, recovery expectations, and home care. We encourage you to be critical and open with questions for your veterinarian and discuss any concerns you may have about your beloved anabul.
Pre-anesthesia is given before surgery to provide pain control and pre-operative sedation to your anuses. This provides a calm and stress-free environment for your anabul and peace of mind for you.
As one of the steps in preparation for surgery, an Intravenous Catheter (IV Catheter) will be placed in a peripheral blood vessel. The IV Catheter allows the administration of drugs and fluids. To induce anesthesia, anesthetic induction drugs are administered through the IV catheter and the safest inhaled gas anesthesia is administered for maintenance of anesthesia status during the operation process.
During surgery, safety is always the first and foremost goal. We continuously monitor your pet's vital signs including heart rate, heart rhythm, respiratory rate, blood pressure, blood oxygenation, body temperature and depth of anesthesia. Based on these observations, we are ready and able to make anesthetic adjustments as per the patient's needs. To ensure your pet remains comfortable, pain medication is administered in three periods: before, during and after surgery.
Our medical team will monitor your pet during the post-anesthesia recovery period. After the surgery, you will receive a call to inform you of your pet's status and confirm a convenient time to take them home. You will receive a detailed explanation on how to properly care for your pet while at home. We also provide pain medication, as well as antibiotics during post-operative recovery. Post-operative controls will be scheduled so that your veterinarian can double-check your pet's healing process.
